Torie Abbott's Bio:

Torie is a junior Honors College student majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations, minoring in History on a Pre-Law track at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Thus far, she has demonstrated strong academic performance in all courses, maintaining a 3.78 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). The courses she has completed to this point, have given her a solid foundation in the basics of: journalism, public relations, news media, logic, philosophy and history. She possesses strong strengths in input, context, communication, achieving, and connectedness. Torie is aspiring to pursue a career in civil litigation law, with a special interest in insurance defense. This past summer, Torie worked at Walters, Balido & Crain, a Dallas, Austin, Decatur, and Houston based law firm. At WBC, she was an assistant for a Partner at the firm and two Of Counsel attorneys. She aided with the firm's cases in any way the attorneys saw fit. She also worked at Woodruff & Wren, LLC Attorneys at Law, where she was an assistant to Partners Jennifer Wren and Mason Woodruff. Torie has extensive leadership and community service experience. She is a member of the Beta Tau chapter of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority where she has served on the Philanthropy Committee. She has participated in many other campus activities including: All-University SING participant, constructing a float for Baylor Homecoming, various intramural teams, and Steppin' Out. She was valedictorian of her high school class and captained the 2011 Alvord High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad and was President of Alvord FFA during her time in high school. In 2011, she completed the requirements for the Texas FFA Association Lone Star Degree, the highest degree issued at the state level. Torie was raised in Alvord, Texas and resides in the Dallas area during the summers.
